What does Open rate mean?

Open rate is an email marketing metric that expresses what share of delivered emails were opened by recipients. It is usually calculated as the number of opened emails divided by the number of successfully delivered messages and expressed as a percentage. It helps roughly evaluate whether recipients were engaged by, for example, the subject line, sender name or timing of the send. However, the open rate alone does not tell you whether the user responded to the offer or converted. It may also not always be accurate, because measurement is affected by image blocking and privacy protection features. It is therefore tracked together with clicks, conversions and other metrics.
