What does Metadata mean?
Metadata is data that describes other data or digital content and provides additional information about it. On a website, it can specify the page title, its description, author, language, creation date or how content is displayed when shared on social media. Some metadata is written directly in the HTML code and is not necessarily visible to an ordinary visitor on the page. Metadata helps browsers, search engines and other systems better understand the content and context of a page. In e-commerce, it can also relate to products, images or files and make it easier to manage, sort, search and display them correctly in various systems.
