What does IP address mean?
An IP address, or Internet Protocol address, is a numeric identifier of a device or network interface connected to a computer network that uses the internet protocol. It makes it possible to determine where data comes from and where it should be delivered. Two versions are most commonly used: IPv4, for example 192.168.1.1, and the newer IPv6 with a much larger number of available addresses. An IP address can be public or private, static or dynamically assigned. On the web and in e-commerce, it is used in server communication, security, access management or analytics. In some situations, an IP address can constitute personal data, so privacy rules must be respected when processing it.
