What does Internal API mean?

An internal API is an interface designed for communication between systems, applications or services within one company or technology solution. Unlike a public API, it is not usually available to external developers and serves mainly to connect internal parts of a system. It can, for example, pass data between an e-shop, warehouse, order system, CRM or other company tools. Thanks to an internal API, individual applications can automatically share information and use the functions of other systems without manual data transfer. Its security, access management, documentation and stability are important, because key company processes may depend on it.
