What does Alt text mean?

Alt text, or alternative text, is a short description of an image added to a website. It is displayed, for example, when an image fails to load, and it is also used by screen readers for visually impaired users. Alt text also helps search engines better understand what is in the image. It should be short, factual and describe what is truly important for the page content.
